About Amy’s Farm and SCALF
Southern California Agricultural Land Foundation
Our company, built on a foundation of regenerative agricultural expertise, is dedicated to advancing sustainable farming practices. We strive to empower farmers and enhance food quality for our local community.
Our Services
Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is ran by our farmers and gardeners. CSA is a subscription model where members (subscribers) pay for regular shares of fresh produce on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. CSAs strengthen the farm–community relationship and prioritize local, sustainable food systems.
Price
The starting price is $25. Members receive 6 different kinds of veggies chosen from our weekly posted availability list. Members don’t have to choose 6 different items, but may double or even triple up on many of the options.
We also have available a variety of “specialty items” including our Kune Kune pork and Black Angus grass-fed beef. These items vary in prices. Members can purchase any of these items as part of their weekly pickup.
Value
Freshness and flavor: Produce is harvested at peak ripeness, delivering superior taste and higher nutrient levels compared with long-shelf-life supermarket produce.
Seasonal variety and culinary discovery: Members eat what’s in season, which encourages new and diverse diets plus new cooking techniques.
Food system transparency: Amy’s Farm is completely organic and chemical free. Members can know where their food comes from, how it’s grown, and who produced it. During pick-up, members are able to see where their produce grows on our property.
Community and farm support: Membership helps stabilize farm income and supports sustainable practices, protecting agricultural land and local economies.
Length of Service
Members may join or discontinue at any time. Usually new members are added at the beginning of the month. Then, when the month comes to an end, members have the option to continue into the next month or they can choose to end their membership.
Pickup/delivery cadence: Members orders are usually distributed weekly, we understand that people have busy schedules so we accept every other week as well. A designated pick-up site is provided for members to pick up their produce.
Why It’s Unique
Risk and reward partnership: Members financially support the farm upfront and share in both abundances and shortfalls, creating a cooperative relationship rather than a transactional one.
Local, regenerative practices: Our CSA prioritizes sustainable methods — completely chemical-free practices, soil health, biodiversity, and low food-mile sourcing.
Who Benefits Most
Families and households wanting regular fresh produce and culinary variety.
People seeking to support local agriculture and sustainable growing practices.
Home cooks and food enthusiasts eager to experiment with seasonal ingredients.
Community members who value transparency, connection, and food security
Healthy soil is the foundation of productive agriculture, resilient ecosystems, and long-term food security. Its importance spans environmental, economic, and social dimensions:
Supports plant growth: Healthy soil supplies essential nutrients, water, and oxygen to plant roots. Good structure and organic matter allow roots to penetrate deeply, access nutrients, and tolerate drought or waterlogging.
Sustains crop yields and quality: Soils rich in organic matter and balanced nutrients produce higher, more consistent yields and better-quality crops.
Preserves biodiversity: Healthy soils host vast communities of microorganisms, insects, worms, and fungi that cycle nutrients, suppress diseases, and maintain soil structure. Biodiverse soils are more resilient to pests and environmental stresses.
Investing in soil health is an investment in productive lands, resilient food systems, and climate resilience. Soil stewardship—caring for soil properties, building organic matter, minimizing disturbance, and fostering biological activity—delivers measurable benefits for farmers, communities, and the environment.
